The story of Kansas City Roofing Service began nearly a century ago during the Great Depression. In 1932, my grandfather, Jesse Halverson Sr., set out across the heartland of Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa. He didn’t just build roofs; he built a reputation for tireless work. As soon as my father, Jesse Jr., was of age, he took his place on the roofline, hammer in hand, learning the trade at his father’s side.
I was raised in the shadow of steep gables and old Iowa barns. My own apprenticeship began at the age of twelve, carrying bundles of shingles up a sixty-foot wooden ladder to my father as he labored on a church steeple. To this day, that same roof stands true—a silent testament to the quality we demand of ourselves.

A Tradition Transplanted (1969–1980)
Following my grandfather’s passing in 1969, our family brought its craft to Kansas City. Operating as Halverson Roofing, we remained a modest family outfit, dedicated to serving our neighbors with honesty. When my father retired in 1980, I stepped into his boots with a vision to honor our past while expanding our reach. To reflect our commitment to this great city, I renamed the firm Kansas City Roofing Service.
